The 25th annual congress of the World Muscle Society (WMS) has started. This is a first for the neuromuscular community: a virtual WMS congress. This congress is special not just because of its format, but because it is the 25-year anniversary congress of the society, which was established to provide a multidisciplinary scientific forum to advance and disseminate knowledge in the neuromuscular field for the benefit of patients.
This year the congress was supposed to take place in Halifax, in Nova Scotia, Canada, but was cancelled due to the coronavirus crisis, and it was decided only in May to organize a virtual event. Registrations for the conference have exceeded 3,000 participants, a record number for the WMS.
