Promoting an active lifestyle in people with epilepsy could be a way to help improve quality of life (QoL), according to researchers.
Specialists from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, in Dallas, Texas, USA, set out to assess the effect of physical activity level on health-related QoL in people with epilepsy.
They had observed that people with epilepsy were often not taking part in regular physical activity, due to concerns about risks, overprotection, and ignorance of the potential benefits of exercise. To investigate, the researchers conducted a prospective observational study of 200 patients over a 12-month period.
