JAG1 could be an effective target in DMD

In a multicenter study, researchers from the USA and Brazil developed a double transgenic mdx-mice model to study the overexpression of Jagged 1 (JAG1) gene in muscles as a potential target for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).

Dr Tracy Yuanfan Zhang and team introduced JAG1 in mdx-mice models by back-crossing to create double transgenic mice that specifically overexpressed JAG1 in the muscles and observed a consistent 2- to 3-fold muscle-specific overexpression of JAG1 even at 1 year.
